BIOGRAPHY

 

Marc-Olivier Oetterli was born in Geneva 1970. He was a member of the boys choir of St. Ursen cathedral in Solothurn before he finished his degrees at the conservatory for music and drama in Berne. He continued his vocal studies and attended masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Bruno Pola, Jan-Hendrik Rootering and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.

Marc-Olivier Oetterli appeared in opera roles such as Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola/Rossini) at the Opera Bordeaux, Collas (Bastien and Bastienne/Mozart), Papageno and Speaker of the Temple (The Magic Flute/Mozart), Man (The Return of Ulysses/Monteverdi), Count Almaviva and Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro/Mozart), Dulcamara (The Elixir of Love/Donizetti), the title role of Massaniello furioso by Reinhard Keiser and Heilmann in E.T.A. Hoffmann’s Undine.

Recent engagements include Mustafa (The Italian Girl in Algiers/Rossini) for the Klosterneuburg Opera Festival and Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress/Strawinsky) at the Lucerne theatre and will make his debut at the "Grand théâtre de Genève" in 2007 and at the "Opéra de Marseille" in 2008.
During his first season at the Lucerne Theatre (08/09) he appeared as Leporello (Don Giovanni/Mozart), Weps (Vogelhändler/Zeller), Chiko (Bakery attack/Mochizuki) and Barbemuche (Boheme/Leoncavallo).

Marc-Olivier Oetterli has performed with various orchestras such as the orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the chamber orchestra Lausanne, the Berne Symphony Orchestra, the Basel Symphony, the young Munich Philharmonic and the Prague Philharmonia. He has collaborated with conductors such as Gerd Albrecht, Michel Corboz, Charles Dutoit, Jakub Hrusa, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Fabio Luisi, Thomas Rösner and Gennady Rozhdestvensky.
